Higher levels of volatility
The financial markets may react with higher-than-normal levels of volatility on election night. Analysts are suggesting that an outright victory for the Conservative party, which has outlined drastic plans to reduce the budget deficit, may help sterling. [1] The prospect of a hung parliament, on the other hand, has already caused markets to fall and any further uncertainty could add to these losses. [2]
During periods of market volatility, you can see high levels of return in a relatively short period of time. On the other hand, it is also possible to make losses, so it is important that you have an effective risk management strategy in place.
Guaranteed Stops let you choose the exact level at which you want your trade to be closed if the market moves against you, letting you see the maximum amount you can lose from the outset. We also offer a number of other risk management tools, including standard stop orders and Trailing Stops.
Please remember, if you do not use stops you should fund your account to cover potential losses, otherwise losing trades may be automatically closed.
